Flew? Flew where?

Robyn has the worst case of flu that I have ever seen one person ever have. It’s bad. Like really bad. Now, you think you know how bad that is? Take that and double it. Okay. That seems pretty bad right? Well, double it AGAIN and that’s where we are. She started off feeling just generally sickly but those feelings have blossomed into a special kind of hellish existence for her. She has literally been in bed for the past two days. Totally miserable. I’ve been doing everything I can think of to try and avoid this sickness. But, time will tell if those efforts were worthwhile. And she’s taken over my mantle as being the “sick one”. It seems like she gets sick all the time now, while I have embraced my new healthy non-sick life. :)

So, up at 6:00am on a Saturday. Which should be against all sorts of laws, by the way. Had to get up and go take my son to “Merit Badge University”. Which is a Boy Scout event where he goes off for a day to learn all the requirements for a new merit badge. Which is pretty cool. Connor is now VERY close to getting his next rank – which is STAR. He’s moving right on up the ladder to Eagle Scout.

Maureen is getting over her sickness from last week. She didn’t have the flu, but she had some other generic sickness that made her speak like death. However, she is bouncing back now and that makes things a little easier than having TWO sick people around.

Work is MUCH better. Things are really starting to get cooking now. My PR campaign will be starting soon and I’m working with the marketing people to get all my stuff ready for distribution. I have a feeling that once I get started, I’m not going to stop and it’s like those conversations you had back in high school about potential versus kinetic energy (See! I paid attention once in a while). I have all this potential energy now and I’m DYING for it to be turned into kinetic energy.

Update

So far things are really going well with the new job. I have help from a real honest-to-goodness marketing person who is helping me prepare my message to publish to the internal and external groups. Since this company is so large, we have a lot of people to inform about my arrival. So, no complaints at all really. The inside is pretty darned political, but thankfully I don’t really have to play a lot in that arena.

I heard from a bunch of friends that the big layoffs were coming at Shop at Home and they did finally happen. They cut like 15% of the workforce (supposedly). Whew. And what’s truly sad are that there were some really good people who were cut who were GOOD for the company. And regrettably, there are many who have no business being there – that retain their jobs. More politics at work. You brown-nose to the right person and you keep your job! You have to love corporate America. Love or hate.
